Over the few years, many car manufacturers have faced ups and downs when it comes to sales – soaring fuel prices, loan interest rates etc being a few reasons. However, there are a few cars which sold in high numbers consistently defying the market trends. Whether it’s a compact that gives you more or a top-selling high performance sports car, Chevrolet continues to shine through the competition.

Let us look at a few top selling Chevrolet cars.

Chevrolet is a multinational corporation founded by Sir Louis Chevrolet in the year 1911. Chevrolet was later acquired by General Motors in 1917. Though Chevrolet had come to India a long back, it could not make any sales. In 2003 Chevrolet India sprang back with the launch of Optra, which was well received by the Indian customers.

A few of the cars that Chevrolet offers are the Spark, Beat and Sail in the compact car segment other than the Enjoy, Tavera, Cruze and the Captiva.

Chevrolet Cruze is a sedan that has been manufactured by General Motors since 2008. General Motors launched the Chevrolet Cruze in India in 2009. The Cruze replaced the Chevrolet Optra. Consequently, General Motors updated the Cruze with a new engine and 6-speed transmission in 2012. Another facelift has been launched in 2014.



Chevrolet Spark is an entry-level hatchback manufactured under the Chevrolet brand of General Motors since 1998. Daewoo Matiz, which was launched in 1998, was the first generation model of the Chevrolet Spark. The second generation Chevrolet Spark was launched in 2005. The third generation Chevrolet Spark is known as Chevrolet Beat in India and was launched in 2010. A face-lifted version was introduced in 2012 with a diesel version and recently had a facelift version launched in 2014. The Beat diesel variant is presently one of the cheapest diesel hatchbacks available in Indian market.

In the big cars segment it offers cars like Enjoy, Tavera and the Captiva. Their rough and sporty look alongside spacious interiors and notable features are making these vehicles immensely popular. Chevrolet Enjoy comes as a joint product of General Motors and Shanghai Automotive Industry Corporation. First showcased at the 11th Auto Expo held in New Delhi, Chevrolet Enjoy is an MUV. The MPV is available in both 8-seater and 7-seater options.

Chevrolet Captiva was launched in the year 2008 and the SUV has gradually built a place in Indian market. The Chevrolet Tavera Neo is another MUV which has been designed to be a powerful and comfortable MUV is a smooth operator.

Chevrolet Sail is a hatchback that is a sedan version of U-VA. The Sail scores pretty highly in the headroom.
