Technology is all around us, in our cars, our work, and seemingly anywhere else we go in the world around us. For many of us, our homes are a veritable Mecca of technology, with cool gadgets in every room. Still, we’re constantly looking for the next thing. Here’s a list of some of the essentials for a tech-laden home.
Humidifier
Humidifiers are nothing new of course; most people can remember having one in their room at some point. Still, in the winter when our noses and throats are congested and dried out, humidifiers add a little moisture to the air. Additionally, the moisture added to the air is good for your skin and hair. Modern humidifiers expand on the original design. Some offer the ability to dispel cool moisture, rather than boiling liquid into steam, while others offer the ability to combine the power of aromatherapy, resulting in medicated moisture being released.
Nest Labs Thermostat
This thermostat is more than just your average, everyday, run-of-the-mill thermostat. Nest Labs has created the next step in climate control with this thermostat. The thermostat learns your tendencies and what temperatures you like, and automatically adjusts your home temperature. It gets better; to save you money it will turn down the temperature in your home automatically when you are away. Rounding out the trio of amazing innovations is the ability to control it from your smart device, so that when you arrive at home it’s the perfect temperature.
Hue Lights
Here’s one that’s really out of the ordinary, but for the money, could really catch on in coming years: home lighting that’s connected to the internet. Philips has developed Hue wireless personal lighting to allow you full control over your lights from your smart device. The lights can do a wide variety of things, from brightening slowly in the morning to gently wake you up, to mimicking any color you see by taking a picture with your smartphone or tablet.
Sleep Number Bed
The Sleep Number bed has been around for years, providing a more restful night’s sleep, which is something we all want, right? Sleep Number’s modern offerings include a wide array of great features. One of the best is the voice controlled remote which will adjust bed settings for a wide number of commands, such as “Stop snoring!” which will raise the head of your partner’s side of the bed and quiet them down. Additionally, the Sleep Number bed will track your sleep patterns through a sensor system and provide you with that data to help you decide what settings really give you the best night’s sleep.
