If you’re ready to get clean and stay clean, your smartphone may be able to give you some assistance in that department. Technology in your pocket has made it so much easier to stay in touch with people and find information no matter where you are. If you don’t have a smartphone yet (you’re one of a very few), it’s definitely a good time to invest in one for your health and well-being.

Check For Meetings

One good thing your phone can do for you is let you check for AA or NA meetings no matter where you are. The need to fall off the wagon can happen anytime and anywhere, and when that happens you need to get into a meeting. If you’re on vacation somewhere you may have no clue where a meeting could be held, and your phone will be your lifeline.

If you do fall off the wagon, you may want to get into a drug treatment center, and you can find them using your phone as well. A simple Google search may be all you need to get help.

Call Friends/Family/Sponsors

When you are out and about and the need for drugs or alcohol strikes, or any other addiction, you might want to reach out to someone that knows what you’re going through. There may not be a meeting available, so being able to contact your sponsor could be the things that keep you from falling off the ledge.

Try An App

There are apps that can do many great things for you. Addicts can find solace in meditation and yoga, so use apps available on your smartphone to help you integrate these things into your life. There are even meditation apps that will send you reminders that it is time to take a moment to yourself or that it has been awhile since your last meditation.

Get On Social Media

If you can’t get a hold of your friends or family, social media offers you an outlet filled with many understanding people. By sharing your struggles in the land of social media you may help other people as well. Sometimes knowing that your struggles have made a difference in another person’s life can be enough to help keep you working toward being clean and free of addiction.

Read Blogs

You can also use your phone to search for blogs on addiction and recovery that will help you understand that you are not the only one going through this. You might even learn a thing or two about how to deal with cravings or how to talk to the people in your life that may not really grasp what you are going through. Addiction isn’t easy and it helps to have as many outlets as you can to get you through it.
